Computing Systems
COMPUTING AT DØ: There are five main onsite computing systems that are available for users. They are dømino, central analysis backend (CAB), DØ PCs, CluEDØ, and online system. dømino is a a 176-processor SGI Origin 200 machine intended to serve the large disk-resident data sets and the SAM cache disk. It has two sister machines: dø2ka and dø2kb. CAB is a farm of 160 AMD dual 1.8 GHz CPU machines using dømino caches. It is intended for batch jobs only. Users can submit jobs to CAB from dømino and CluEDØ. Contributions from institutions to CAB are welcome. CluEDØ is a cluster of desktop Linux PCs contributed and managed by collaborating institutions. It currently has over 200 nodes. Window PCs are centrally managed PCs of collaborating institutions. Online computing system by definition serves our data acquisition. To get accounts on these machines, please follow the DØ Account Request Form.
OFFSITE COMPUTING: The collaboration is aggressively developing offsite computing for DØ physics analysis. The effort is organized under the auspices of the Offsite Analysis Task Force (email OATF) co-chaired by Nick Hadley, Pierre Pettrof, Vicky White. Presently, the task force is working on to bring up a prototype remote analysis center at Karlsruhe in Germany. more...
