VRB Controller Overview

The VRB Controller resides in slot 14 in each of the VRB crates. Its function is to derive VRB and VBD control signals from the Serial Command Link (SCL). The derived signals prepare the VRB for receiving SVX data via the SVX Sequencer, and control the filling and reading of several data storage buffers on the VRB. Control signals for the VME Buffer Driver (VBD) coordinate the transmission of the VRB data across the VME backplane to the VBD. The data then goes to the D0 Level 3 system via a "Data Cable." Diagnostics are provided in case the SCL is not operational.
