QSIM Information

The following information was provided by Sarah Eno (eno@fermi.physics.umd.edu) .

What is QSIM?

QSIM simulates the DØ detector by smearing particles according to a parameterized response. It puts the results in a column-wise ntuple.

QSIM works with tracks, a simple displaced vertex algorithm, electrons, muons, jets, missing ET. It has EMfraction of jets, so should be able to do photons.

How to use it?

Using QSIM is easy. There is an example in PRJ$ROOT331:[NEW_PHENOM_4.NP_ALPHA.OMNTUPLE]run_isaqsim.com.

You will wish to change:

There are some .cmd files in this area that were chosen two snowmasses ago as good points to study (p*_sugra_all.cmd).

What's in the ntuple?

The variable names are the same as those in PRJ$ROOT331:[NEW_PHENOM_4.NP_ALPHA.inc]qsim_commons.inc

The variables are documented in comment lines in this common block.

How good is it?

Past studies have shown efficiencies with about 20% uncertainty.
