historical Barcelona starts
around the 15 B.C. when was
recognized as a Augustan colony
in the Roman Empire. The roman
Barcino was built on the
location of a much older enclave
occupied by earlier habitants of
the cost; Ligures, Celts and
Celtibers. What started as stopping point for vessels traveling the eastern coast of Iberia evolved in one of the most important centers of commerce of modern Spain. Barcelona is a fascinating modern city full of history and sure of its future. Join me in a virtual visit. We will walk from the port to the Tibidabo, from Montjuich to La Sagrada Familia. We will see the Barri Gotíc and the most fabulous representation of the architecture of the XIX century in Europe. |

| Tibidabo |
| The Tibidabo is the tallest of the picks at the West of the city. Its name is a corruption of the Latin for "I will give you". Tradition has it that this is the place where the Christ was taken by Satan. Here, showing the rich valley of the Llobregat, the temptation for power and richness was made: "..if...all this I will give to you..". At the top there is a church and the oldest amusement park of Barcelona. |
| Montjuich |
| The mountain of Montjuich is located at the South West of the city. Its name means "mount of the Jews" and a Jewish cemetery was probably located at its brow. The strategic importance of Montjuich is attested by the military fort built at its summit. In 1929 Montjuich became the center of the Barcelona World 's Fair. The North West part of the mountain was transformed into beautiful gardens that attract people of all social classes and nationalities to this day. Some of the most interesting buildings for the 1992 Olympic Games are located here. The most impressive being the "Palau San Jordi", a beautiful covered sport's arena that seats seventeen thousand. |

is a visionary architectural
work that cannot be described,
it needs to be seeing. A majestic cathedral without equal, its spirals seem natural growth of biological forms made of stone. |
