From maciel@fnal.gov Fri Sep 27 16:31:00 2002 Date: Thu, 26 Sep 2002 19:49:41 -0500 From: Arthur Maciel To: Paul Karchin Cc: H Fisk , Mitchell Wayne , Arthur Maciel Subject: The Reviewers Comments -- text format For those unable to open star-office (thanks Dhiman!) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Paul: The Steering Committee received reviews from the review panels a few days ago and has asked us to distribute individual proposal reviews to contact persons. A general description of the review process and an explanation of the rankings is posted on the web at: http://www.hep.uiuc.edu/LCRD/html_files/proposal.html The review committee's response to your proposal is copied below. The field labeled "Proposal" is "based on factors such as clarity of goals, feasibi- lity, strength of the participants, etc." The fields labeled "relevance" and "tier" are self explanatory. All three factors contribute to the perceived merits of a proposal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- No. of Proposal 7.2 Title of Proposal Scintillator Based Muon System R&D Institute Fermilab, Northern Illinois, Notre Dame, Wayne State, UC Davis, Rice, UT Austin Contact Person Paul Karchin Type Muons FY2003 in $ Amount 57,710 Proposal Evaluation Good Relevance Important Tier 1 Comments -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- We don't have any other information at this time from the committee concerning the proposals. The review committee's reports will be transmitted to the DOE by the steering group. The complete proposal as seen by the review committee is a draft. It has always been the intention that proponents would be able to submit their proposals in a manner which could include a response to the review of the draft version of the proposal. If you feel it is appropriate, please send us a note containing clarifications, further exposition, corrections, (small) changes in focus or budget. We will insert this immediately before your original proposal in the final version of the document. In order to have time to assemble the entire document, please get back to us (g-gollin@uiuc.edu) with your note by October 7. (Also let us know if you aren't going to send a note!) Please get back to us (g-gollin@uiuc.edu) with your cover letter by October 7. We would appreciate hearing if you do not intend to add any letter. But, if we do not hear from you by October 7, we will assume so. As stated after the UCSC meeting, the final funding will take place during the annual renewal of your grant or in the form of a supplement and will be decided by the the grant monitor. The sub-proposal along with the cover letter should be used during the individual funding. We would be happy to answer what we can if you have questions. So, please feel free to contact us. Thank you for making the process a success and looking forward to working all together on Linear Collider: Andreas, Dan, George, John, Usha the LCRD proposal coordinators
