Good morning Paul.  According to my records, we have received a total of 
2214 VLPC MCMs.  Of this quantity, 1845 were received from the assembler 
as passing the final in-house test prior to shipment.  The difference of 
369 accounts for the devices which the assembler claims have die 
defects, which they were not under contract to replace.  We are culling 
through this group to find parts which are acceptable, we anticipate 
recovering ~10%. 

Of the 1845 received as good from the assembler, we found an approximate 
1% fail to pass our incoming inspection.  Accounting for this reduction 
and the recovery of acceptable parts from those deemed failed we will 
have approximately 1860 good VLPC MCMs.  We have already shipped 1250 
VLPC MCMs to Sanmina for the assembly run of the AFE_8s

What do we need on the platform?  (assuming the design
complement of AFE12)

37.5  AFE8 only cassettes for CFT axial
30    AFE8 only cassettes for CFT stereo

       so 135 boards (left and right) x 8 MCM    ==  1080 MCMs

15    AFE12 cassettes for CFTstereo/CPS
16    AFE12 cassettes for FPSshwr/FPSmip

       so 62 boards (left and right) x 12 MCm    ==   744 MCMs

                 total MCMs needed in service    ==  1824 MCMs

    plus need spares.

[  to populate the CFT stereo channels that were targetted
   for AFE12 boards originally, we need 30 boards x 4 MCMs
   or 120 MCMs.
