From: SMTP%"ginther@fnal.gov" 18-APR-2001 15:01:54.03 To: GRANNIS CC: Subj: Re: minutes of AFE meeting In addition to the concerns listed in the meeting minutes (AFE performance with boards facing one another, with background light, with lower gain cassettes), I also believe that the following are some issues that may be relevant to release of the AFE8 for stuffing: -What is known about the stability and/or reproducibility of voltages and threshold settings and resulting noise rates over any time periods (hours? days?) for both the digital and analog output? -Does a pair of boards on the same cassette perform adequately? -What do the ADC spectra look like when the data is acquired under what could be considered normal operating conditions with the SIFTs on the board operational (even neglecting the fact that the SASEQ is used rather than a standard DA setup)? If the board performance remains as is, will the analog results be adequate for the preshower detectors? Or could the performance of the current implementation unacceptably compromise the calorimetery? GG
