November 5th 2002 CFT Trigger Commissioning Meeting

Hardware

The list of potential tasks for the upcoming 3 hour access was discussed. (Note added: During the access the DFES input cabling was restored. The DFEA-L1MUON problems in sectors 42 and 69 will be dealt with during another access, when preconfigured transition boards are available. Ditto for the problems on the west platform (CTOC-CTQD and STOV-STSX).)

The Sequencer firmware modifications to be installed in crate 5 (affecting VRB crate x51) during the access tested out ok at the CTS, as far as CTT functionality is concerned.

DFE_WARE & Monitoring

Yurii reported on some (positive) experience with mixer diagnostics. He showed plots histogramming the frequency of L1_accept loss/disappearance per sector. Further studies will reveal whether there are any real differences between sectors, or whether the observed differences are due to the finite sampling granularity of the monitor.

During testing before the access Yurii found that one board in the DFE system (the DFEA for TS 4) had spontaneously lost its programming. It restored ok.

L2

Carsten tested his L2 CTOC design at the CTS with the data pump, both alone and as part of the AFE-DFEA-CTOC-CTQD chain.

L1CTT

We are still working on the CTOC L1 output timing instability. (Note added: On Wednesday Satish produced a version that features constant early timing and is also stable against all common disturbances (i.e. it recovers from Sequencer clock switching and link interruptions). Unfortunately another 'hiccup' crept into the design, and is currently being worked on.)

Readout & Examine

Kyle is going to put in a temporary fix for the byte-order problem.

Mike explained how the examine reset will work. He and Kyle were asked to produce some documentation on how to switch the online examine input from SVX to VSVX data.

Data taking with lower thresholds has commenced.
