Fiber Tracker Meeting Minutes
September 2, 2003 - 10am, Farside
- CFT Electronics Status : Borcherding
- discovered can get rid of double peaks if P-clamp is reset every cycle, but this
has side effects - the worst of which kills SVX channel 49 (because of the trace mixing)
- have started training new experts; want to schedule another meeting for later this week
- next Tuesday, online system will be off all day
- the 18th, 21st, and 25th of October will be 8-hour power outages
- September 8th, 29th, and October 13th will be 1-hour power outages at 7am
- RecoCloggers - e-mail from Harry Melanson
- run grading update (slides)
- should split into 6 "detectors" - CFT, CPS, FPS, each with discriminator and trigger
- this is a first shot at defining what cuts to make:
- Jadzia wants to see a study based more on knowledge of the detector and not based on
just cutting on distributions. For example, find some good runs and some bad runs,
then set up qualifications such that these runs retain their definitions
- this is still an open issue that needs to converge
- big question: who is going to do this?
- Calibration/data quality : Warchol
- wants to address concerns of what has been happening when there is no beam
- during the day, the shifter should still be there checking the distributions
- have seen examples of shifters assigning themselves to be on call - SHOULD NOT HAPPEN!
- captains also need to be reminded that they do not have the authority to tell shifters they can
go on-call
- we have instabilities going on right now and need shifters to be present to catch problems
when they happen
- shall we as a group revoke the ability to go on-call? no, just make it clear that on-call
priviledge only applies between 10pm and 8am, and only under certain conditions
- FPD Calibration data : Strang
- talk slides
- TPP = transition patch panel
- problem comes from low channels
- it's not that the structure hasn't been seen before, but that
the vertical size of the structure has gotten bigger
- signal average is 100ADC counts, therefore signal to noise is 5-to-1
- Drew: going to have to have offline thresholds
- want to put a Level 1 cut to get rid of showers, so need to apply online thresholds
to do this
- Drew: this pattern may not show up in the SIFT discriminators, so have a look at those
before making a decision.
- CFT Tracking efficiency : Fox
- Tracking Efficiency vs. Physics eta -
slide
- find one electron with a (global) track and look for the other electron
- believe this to be background subtracted
- this is p13 reconstruction with the geometry corrections
- inter-cryostat region gets thrown out for this analysis
- CFT Tracking efficiency : Zdrazil
- CFT track reco issues in dimuon - slide
- cluster efficiency - slide
- this assumes inefficiencies are uncorrelated
- plot of number of singlets / doublets vs. eta
- MC makes this a flat plot
- either we don't understand what we're plotting, or we don't understand the
calculation on the previous page.
- singlets - slide
- 2mu_a_l2mphi geo. acceptance trigger, abs(eta) < 2 -
slide
- detector slide
- plots from logbook - slide
- left is eta, right is phi
- more plots from logbook; dip is more pronounced -
slide
- no dip if only calculate detector eta - slide
- eta histograms - slide
- why such a big difference? why this odd shape? - slide
- Drew: have a look at plot of eta, for each of the supersectors please
- ask Mike Hildreth to add possibility of having a different cut for axial and stereo
(20 and 10 or similar); Would it be possible to have a finer distinction?
- CTT status : Stefan (for Yurii)
- due to the way the Level 2 preprocessors are run, had to couple crate x13 to
sequencers 3 and 5; as a result all crates are now inter-dependent. Only one
run can be done with the whole system at a time. Trying to go against this is
not as obviously broken as before - crate x13 will not go FEB, but crate x13
triggers will be completely screwed.
- still some bugs in the CPS preshower stereo code
- might still be a problem with L2 CTT input getting messed up every 4 hours
