Fiber Tracker Meeting Minutes
July 29, 2003 - 10am, Farside
- Calibration/data quality : Warchol
- talk slides
- believe we have observed our first case of SVX failure
- board removed this morning
- will add a check to calibration proceedure : SVX response vs VREF voltage
- we have a "latched" VLPC pixel
- any bias voltage applied and it misbehaves
- call it a "breakdown pixel"
- observe some spill-over to neighboring channels
- nothing we can do about it except trying to disable that pixel
- work in progress
- removing VSVX data from CFT stereo boards
- will do this slowly and carefully
- SBCs still need reset
- usually completely handled by the DAQ shifter (alarm watcher has been updated)
- hardware reset is sometimes needed, which needs to be followed by reinit VME
- Update on control room operation : Vachon
- control room procedures web pages need updating. Need input from us.
- there are already special sections for CFT ops - needs some rewording/updating though
- people in attendence went through page by page and made suggestions
- original versions of the pages
- Brigitte's summary of what was discussed
- End of access checklist : Vachon
- talk slides
- sometimes problems have cropped up in the system after an access,
even though our system was not worked on
- Suggestion: put platform lights on a timer to make sure they turn off?
- make sure fans are turned back on?
- mention that temperature alarms are expected and ok for at least an hour after the access?
- make this a checklist for all systems, and any access?
- make a separate CFT access checklist too? yes, for experts only
- AFE II update : Estrada
- D0 note 4202 finished
- figures of note shown: figure 7, figure 8, figure 5, figure 6, figure 2,
figure 4, and the abstract
- ADC spectra and turn-on curves
for 64 channels
- black curve = no cut, red = one ADC fires
- all channels look roughly the same
- turn-on curve for 64 channels
- these plots were not made with injected charge,
but using light method, injecting everything at once
- one page is in ADC space, the other in P.E. space
- stuff at bottom (in P.E. space) is not understood; stuff below the pedestal / rail
should not exist
- eight channels showed wandering
pedestals
(the leftmost eight in the first plot), and so these
were not included in the turn-on curves
