Fiber Tracker Meeting Minutes
June 17, 2003 - 10am, Farside
- CFT Realignment Status : Borissov
- Realignment of the CFT
- was the "magnet on" calibration run taken with both polarities, or just one?
just one
- Procedure
- Shift from default geometry, layers 1-2
- Shift from default geometry, layers 3-4
- Shift from default geometry, layers 5-6
- Shift from default geometry, layers 7-8
- variation is up to 200 microns in outer layers
- Interpretation
- axial shifts can be parameterized by delta^ax = A*cos(phi-phi0) + B
- A = shift of the center of cylinder
- phi0 = direction of shift (w.r.t. vertical axis)
- B = Rotation of cylinder
- how are the two coordinate systems related? fix one layer (layer 1, ribbon 1)
- A and phi0 vs. layer
- B vs. layer
- more details on the procedure:
- use a defined geometry
- find the primary vertex
- require all tracks to come from the primary vertex
- find difference from defined geometry using the found tracks and
searching for the minimum of the residuals
- Conclusions
- new alignment ("magnet off") fixes the discrepancy - already released in p14.02.00
- needs more study
- SMT and CFT were calibrated together, so both are in reference to this
one fixed cft ribbon on layer 1
- the tracks are averages over nearly the full length of the cft
- can it be checked if the center has sagged more than the ends?
- trigger database should take care of the propagation of the info from p14.02 forward
- think the problem could actually be a software glitch since the shift is so regular
(would expect natural movement and settling to be more chaotic)
- Calibration/data quality : Warchol
- talk slides
- tool buttons in the e-log have replaced the paper checklists
- buttons are: beginning of shift; between stores; shot setup; begin run
data taking; shift summary (emailed to d0cftshift list); trouble
- you can subscribe or unsubscribe from the mailing list
- stress importance of watching examine histograms - especially the pdaq
- if you see a problem and it gets fixed by a download or similar,
you should request a new run be started
- Examines and Alarms : Savage
- talk slides
- "Host Apps" are host applications, i.e. any executable running on an online machine
- what kind of alarms do we want to be sending?
need several people to think about how to impliment it
- CTT status : Makoto
- talk slides
- had problems over the weekend
- even if x13 crate is out of the run, need to keep checking DAQmon,
DFEWare, ctt_examine, etc.
- need some clarification on how to monitor the And/Or terms
- please do CTT checklist at begin of store, for each physics run,
and when you have any troubles
- button has been updated from "Fix x13" to "Fix CTT"
- ongoing studies for understanding performance are being done by Yurii,
Makoto, and Brigitte
