Fiber Tracker Meeting Minutes
June 3, 2003 - 10am, Farside
- Calibration/data quality : Warchol
- talk slides
- page 3: missing events? hit init VRBC (no need to pause run)
- pages 4-5: what "stale" data looks like and how to fix
- pages 7-8: pdaq_examine indicators of VRBC problems
- CFT Efficiency : Jabeen
- talk slides
- in most plots, red is new timing, blue is old timing
- page 10: has the layers mis-labelled.
Left to right starting on the top row, they are: 1,3,5,7,(next row) 2,4,6
- page 13 is the layer efficiency as a function of the fiber number
where the bins are SVX layers
- page 15: "Layer efficiency" is the overall efficiency
- black is new timing, red is old
- the pedistals and thresholds used in this study are from a flat file
- Pulse Ht. Analysis on Tracks : Lam
- talk slides
- Note: plots are are not those shown at the meeting. Data was re-run to
get better statistics and include only axial layers
- What is a multiplet? three or more hits
- lambda is the compliment of theta
- Key for Supersectors:
- SS 1: red
- SS 2: grey
- SS 3: green
- SS 4: blue
- SS 5: yellow
- all SS: black
- top plot versus bottom plot: with and without ADC 254 supressed
- Pulse height distribution of clusters:
plots
- Pulse height distribution - contrast VSVX on and off:
plots
- Counts of Singles and Doublets vs. tan(lambda), lambda, and eta:
plots
- Counts of Singles/Doublets and Multiplets vs. tan(lambda), lambda, and eta:
plots
- these plots jive with what Makoto was saying - a shorter path length (nearer zero),
means more singlets.
- if there were 2 doublets for each singlet, one would expect the histogram to be around .5,
but the lowest value seen here is 0.8
- Average ADC of Singlet vs.tan(lambda), lambda, and eta:
plots
- y-axis is average ADC count,
so is higher when overflows included (right-hand column)
- Average ADC of Singlet in 5 Supersectors:
plots
- Average ADC of Doublet (high ADC) vs. tan(lambda), lambda, and eta with 254 ADC included:
plots
- Average ADC of Doublet (high ADC) vs. tan(lambda), lambda, and eta without 254 ADC:
plots
- Average ADC of Doublet (high ADC) in 5 Supersectors without 254 ADC:
plots
- Average ADC of Doublet (low ADC) in 5 Supersectors without 254 ADC:
plots
- Average MAX ADC of Multiplet vs. tan(lambda), lambda, and eta without 254 ADC:
plots
- dip is not as substantial
- Average MAX ADC of Multiplet in 5 Supersectors without 254 ADC:
plots
- CTT status : Yurii/Stephan
- CPS and FPS personalities are in
- all L1 and L2 senders are in and are behaving in the sense
that they are not messing up level 3
- FPS firmware development is resuming
- were able to put all boards to be read out into crate x13 as of yesterday
- CTT
- new firmware for CTTT in (tried three weeks ago, but had to back out)
- reason for problem before: some terms were not defined correctly. Levan fixed them.
- no progress yet on triggerlist / don't know if our exposure groups are in
- occupancy related terms (like THT) are being offered as components of triggers if
you want to veto on too much occupancy
- Michael Begel is worried if this would mess up luminosity calculations.
He wants to put each into it's own exposure group, but space is limited
- discussion continues on what approach to use
- cps axial triggers
- have looked at event dumps and there is info there
- have taken a run, have request in to process, being done
- CFT realignment status : Borissov
- Status and plans : Borcherding
- talk slides
- VRBC boards tested on CTS show lots of problems
- lots of changes made to VRBC's
- 50 has old VRBC, new firmware
- 51 has old VRBC, new firmware
- 52 has new VRBC, new firmware
- 53 has new VRBC, new firmware
- have two more old ones that can (and probably will) be put in
- AFE board swap
- installed CFT board in FPD - saw amplitude of noise double, as expected
- worked on CFT and FPS boards
- summer shutdown:
- will start August 25, last for 7 weeks ( pretty solidly scheduled )
- means probably no physics luminosity for three months
- cryostat work - things have been getting warmer
- set point is currently .3 kelvin warmer than before
- could probably run even a little warmer - will discuss
- should we have a monthly warm up? (to 45 to 75 degrees) - will discuss
- no additional theories about causes of build-up
- cassette work? only if we warm up completely
- we will pull and modify all AFE boards to fix unused channel and add frequency controller
- frequency change can be phased in sequencer by sequencer
- work will be done in groups of eight and boards put back in their same slots
- no phase five or CTS testing unless needed
- rest of items are same as before...
- TRiP chips: Juan
- have confirmed observation of photon peaks
- gain is not up to what we want yet
- all work is being done at 132 nsec
