W2K File Services

The fileservers in the DZERO OU of the FERMI domain are D0SERVER4 and D0SERVER6. In order to access these fileservers you are required to be an authenticated user. If you are working on a FERMI domain member workstation and have logged on, you will pretty much not have any troubles connecting to D0SERVER4 or D0SERVER6.

The complication to this is if you are connecting from a machine which is not a domain member. You will then need to "MAP NETWORK DRIVE", and fill out the "Connect As" field with DOMAIN\username, such as FERMI\<username>. You also need to put the appropriate FERMI password in the "Password" field.

In order for this to work you must make sure your non domain member machine is capable of doing NTLMv2. For Windows 2000 or XP Pro make sure the following registry key is set:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Lsa/lmcompatabilitylevel
REG_DWORD 0x00000005 (5) - for domain members
REG_DWORD 0x00000003 (3) - for non domain members such as laptops

NOTE: Access via any other method or Operating System is not currently supported, so you would be on your own.

If you have tried the above and it still doesn't connect, send email to csi-exp@fnal.gov.
